1st Digital Camino Photo Contest

Autumn 2017 - Registrations Now  Open

Submit your photos - with a chance to win a prize!

Entry Criteria 


  • The contest is open to any pilgrim photographer, amateur or professional, and fans of photography who aren't professional photographers that walked the Camino.

  • Entrants must be over 18 years. 

  • Each photographer may submit up to three photos per category and caption information. Caption information should include:

    • Category:

      • 1.- Landscape / sights

      • 2.- Traditional Food and Drinks

      • 3.- Camino marking

      • 4.- Culture

      • 5.- Buildings & Architecture

    • Camino Route:  Any of the Camino routes including Celtic Camino in Ireland.

    • Location: city. Town, village or landmark.

    • Detailed caption of subject matter.

    • Photographer details: name, surname, e-mail, mobile/phone. 

  • By submitting the photograph for consideration, the photographer attests that:

    • Entry is an original photograph

    • S/he created the image and owns full copyright to pictures submitted

    • Image may be used for Camino Society Ireland future publications

    • Photographs of the winners will be on display at Camino Society Ireland exhibitions

    • Submissions are in compliance with the legal and copyright laws

  • Photo Exhibition opening and Award ceremony December 1st 2017

Technical Specifications:

  • Pictures taken in digital format must be: JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg) in portrait or landscape format at high resolution, a min resolution of 1600 x 1200  / 2 megapixels. 


  • A watermarked photo might not be honored by the contest (at the judges’ sole discretion) 



  • Best 3 in each category by judges decision. 


  • Best 3 overall by judges decision. 


  • Best 3 popular.  Popular votes at the exhibition venue and social media of the 3 photos of each category selected previously by the jury.This award will be given after December contest exhibition to count votes. 



 All  winners get a certificate of award and a Camino Society goodie bag.

All winners will also receive 1 year Camino Society Ireland membership and certificate of Award.

Conditions of Contest 


By submitting their images to the contest, entrant indicates that s/he has read the rules and conditions of the contest and accepts the terms listed below: 


  • You confirm to the contest organizers that you shot the photo, that you are the rightful owner of the photo, and that you have obtained any necessary third‐party releases. The contest organizers reserve the right to request your copy of any personal release, location release or artist release. 

  • Photographer retains the copyrights to his/her images, but grants to Camino Society Ireland, without need for attribution, prior permission or additional pay or consideration: the right to use the submitted images royalty‐free, world‐wide and in perpetuity; the non‐ exclusive license to copy, display, distribute, reproduce, and create derivative works of the submitted images, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for Camino Society Ireland for public information purposes or fundraiser. 


  • Camino Society Ireland  reserves the right to contact photographers to confirm information in the submission form or for any other purpose considered necessary. 


  • Camino Society Ireland reserves the right to disqualify photographers who: are unable to validate the information submitted on the submission form; tamper with the process; or breach Contest Rules. 


  • Camino Society Ireland is not liable for any late, misrouted or lost entries. 


  • Winners are responsible for paying any applicable taxes, fees and all other unspecified costs that accrue to the prize. 


  • Decisions by the judges and Camino Society Ireland  are final. Entrant agrees to comply with and be bound by the decisions of the Camino Society Ireland and/or of the panel of judges on all matters associated with the contest, and waives all rights to judicial recourse in case of disputes. 


  • Photographers whose contact information has changed during the course of the contest are responsible for notifying the Camino Society Ireland. 


  • Winners will be notified before December 2017 Exhibition. 


  • Camino Society Ireland reserves the right to cancel or modify these rules anytime at its sole discretion. Entrants agree to be bound by such changes.
