Leafy Loop Walk Durrow

This delightful lowland walk follows a network of country lanes, river bank, forestry paths and woodland tracks through the Laois countryside. The route sets off through the Castle Durrow Estate before a quiet road bring you to the Dunmore Demense. After looping through woodland, the trail heads south along the banks of the River Nore. Leaving the river at Knockatrina Wood, where during early summer the forest floor is a carpet of bluebells and wild garlic, a series of leafy lane ways and back roads lead back into Durrow. 

Start/Finish: This is  a loop walk starting and finishing @ the Catholic Church car park.

Meet Time: 10:30am.

Start Time: 11am sharp.

Location: Durrow is on the N77 between Portlaoise & Kilkenny City. Durrow is to the East of the M9 and approximately 110K from Dublin.

Parking:  Catholic Church car park in Durrow.  It is to the south east of the Square on the road to Ballyragget.

Trail: Moderate.

Duration: 14km - 4hrs.

Pack: Rain gear, hiking boots/shoes essential, walking poles (if you wish). If there's heavy rain in late March gaiters are recommended. Snack & a drink.
