Maynooth to Coolmine (“all along the banks of the Royal canal”)
Date : Saturday 21st May 2022
Meet at 11.00
Walk starts @ 11.15 sharp
Meet: @Maynooth train station (we suggest parking at Coolmine train station, where the walk ends, and taking a train to Maynooth).
Parking:Maynooth and Coolmine car parks cost €4.50 a day.
Distance / duration: 16k long. Allowing for short stops we expect to arrive in Coolmine around 15.30.
Difficulty:Easy to moderate. Suits all levels of fitness.
Gear: Rain gear & hiking boots / shoes (the last section can be muddy). Snack and a drink.
Terrain: The route is 100% flat and off road. It is mainly rural. Even when the route passes through built up areas it feels rural.
Note: The numbers of places on our walks are limited for safety reasons. We closed registration for recent walks when the number registered reached safety limits. It was very disappointing when 40 to 50% of those who had registered did not turn up. Only register if you are confident you can make it, please.
PS: If very bad weather is forecast and the walk has to be cancelled, we will notify those who have registered before 19.00 on the previous day.
